Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Mamaroneck Junior Soccer League (MJSL). This site serves as a source of information for players, parents, coaches and referees.

The MSJL Travel Soccer program is the more competitive arm to MJSL's Recreational Soccer Program. There are specific requirements for children to participate in a Travel Program. They must be 8 years or older and children can only enter the travel program if there is a roster spot on a travel team and they have successfully participated in a try-out. Try-outs take place throughout the year and are announced on this web site, via e-mail and through other methods.

The MJSL is affiliated with the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL), which means we play against other WYSL affiliated teams. In the fall 2007 about 280 children participated on 19 travel teams in the Travel Program (in addition to 845 children in the Rec Program). That is up from 220 children on 13 teams in the fall of 2006.

The MJSL Travel teams have been very successful. Last fall 25% of our competitive travel teams won their division. That is a great result.

Sportsmanship: "If by winning you have lost the respect of others, you didn't really win". The MJSL has sportsmanship high on its agenda. In the Fall 2007, two of our teams received the prestigious Sportsmanship Award (the Rebels and the Red Bulls). Five of our teams came very close to winning the sportsmanship award and ended up in second place (Bulldogs, Centaurs, Fireballs, Generals and Shredders).

Mamaroneck teams are playing at the highest level. For this spring, the highest level soccer team in the wider area is a Mamaroneck team (the Panthers, # 3 in New York State and # 60 in the country!) We also have teams playing in Division 1 and several teams in Division 2.

We are proud of our travel teams.

The Travel Program is managed by the Travel Committee under the leadership of Tom Cook (mmk1@optonline.net).

Once again, participation in the Travel Program is based on a selection process. If your child is interested, please look on the Try-outs tab on this web site or contact Tom with more specific questions.

We look forward to seeing your child on the soccer field!
